Psalms 56:1-5; John 1:29-31
…. Since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
(ESV – I Peter 1:16)
It is not easy to maintain our holiness this day. There are many disruptions, especially modern life style such as hedonism, bad company with wrong person who brings bad influences, cheating in exam, dishonest with your parent, etc. The Bible says, ”…do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, …” (1 Pet 1:14). It means we have to avoid such attitudes or behaviors that make us separated from God. God does not like His children to disobey His Word. God loves His children who always try to do His will.
Could you think of some factors that make us unholy? Then, could you think of the way that we as God’s children can try our best to obey God’s Word and be holy? Perhaps you will find that it is hard to maintain our holiness before God. Remember that only with the help of the Holy Spirit can we be holy.
Now, please find verses from the Bible as many as possible that instruct us as children of God to do the right things and become holy before God. Write those verses bellow! Highlight those verses you can remember about God’s call upon us to be holy.
“Dear God, you are holy and so I have to be holly too. I know it is not easy because many things around my life try to make me unholy. Therefore, I need the Holy Spirit to guide me and help me to be holy and to obey your Word. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.”
