Psalms 7:7-12; Matthew 6:16-34
“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”
As Christ followers we are compelled to love others and do His work in our lives. You have also probably heard that we are made to be more like Him. Who’s Him? It’s Jesus.
We are made to love others like He loves others and serve others as He serves those around Him. But it’s almost impossible if we are only to rely on our own strength. During His time on earth, Jesus loved those who were hard to love, He loved the enemies and the abandoned and the neglected.
I’m sure on our everyday walk, we see such people around us and our natural instincts are not to love them but to ignore them. And yet, He calls us to love them. How do we deal with this impossible task? By having the Holy Spirit in us to guide us and to give us strength when we cannot draw from our own strength. When you let the Holy Spirit dwells in you, you are able to be more like Jesus, to be changed from the inside out. It may not happen overnight but through time and obedience to the nudging of the Spirit, it’s possible to love as He loves.
“Dear Lord, thank you for letting the Holy Spirit be in my life. I pray that You allow me to be more sensitive of it’s presence in my life and that I can learn to rely more on it. Because I know I will not be able to do anything without the Spirit in me. In Your Name I pray, Amen!”
