II Peter 1
He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters
While it is our purpose in life to worship God and to spread the news of His salvation to others, let’s not forget why we do that! Simply put, we do these things, not so He’ll bless us or give us rewards. We do it because we love Him who has first loved us. God created the earth, all the birds and animals, trees, bodies of water, humans, because He loves us. He blessed us with all that we have because He wants the best for His children. It is us, who strayed away from Him. We humans, rebelled against Him. And even after all of that, He sent His one and only Son to die for us so we can be reunited with Him, all because He loves us so much. So don’t get it mixed up. Don’t forget that we’re not doing this in hope that He will give us all that we want. But we do this because He has already provided. He came first and this is our response to all that He has done.
So many times we get it all mixed up. But God still shows His love for us by continuously forgiving us and giving us the Holy Spirit to guide our life in such a way that pleases Him, making us more and more like Jesus. That is amazing! He never gives up on us!
“Dear Lord, I am in awe of all that You have done! You have relentlessly pursue me and for that I am truthfully grateful. I can never pay You back for all the blessings You have given me just because You love me. Lord, I hope that I can continue to serve You and Your Kingdom. That I can be used for Your glory and that more and more people can know what it feels like to have the King of Kings, loves me, a complete sinner, so much that You sent Your one and only Son to die for me. How amazing You are Lord. I praise You always! In Your Name I pray, Amen.”
