The Bible in One Year:
I Corinthians 11:1-16
Golden Verse
“And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses” .
(Mark 11:25)

This small fact may be overlooked and forgotten. But it’s simple. For our sins to be forgiven, for God to extend His grace and mercy upon us in spite of all we’ve done earlier, we must first ask for forgiveness. Yes, God is all knowing. He knows all of our sins in both actions and thoughts, even before we did them, but God in his divine mercy is ready to forgive us whenever we address our remorseful apologies to him.

So asking for forgiveness is important. It is in fact so important that most prayers (even the most famous prayer of all, The Lord’s Prayer) includes a section where we ask for forgiveness – “and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.”

Let us make it a habit to ask for forgiveness daily, as it can help us to forgive others too.

“Forgive, not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace.” – Unknown.
“Dear Lord, forgive me of my sins, in both my actions and my thoughts. Help me to see your ways in my life. And help me to overcome temptations each time I face them. Please encourage me to always do the right thing. As I ask for your forgiveness, help me also to forgive others in my life. In your name I pray. Amen.”
