II Corinthians 7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Tony Campolo was once confronted by an atheist who was one of his students. The young man told Campolo, “For me to believe in God, I have to have a God that I can understand.” And Campolo replied, “God refuses to be that small!”
Often we make the mistake of putting God into a little box, saying “No way God can help me battle this problem. I can’t deal with it so surely no one can!” And yet we forget that the God whom we serve, made the universe and everything in it, including you and me. Our problems that may seem gigantic and humongous in our eyes, are NOTHING compared to Him and the great majesty being He is. And when we want to see changes in our life, when we want to see things work out or problems solved, sometimes all we need is to believe in God and rely on Him to take care of it. Don’t put God in a box!
“Dear God, help me learn to rely on You more. Teach me to be humble and to understand Your greatness. I pray that when things get tough, I won’t crumble or fall but I’ll be reminded that my God is bigger than any of my problems, for You are the Almighty God. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.”
