BE THOU AN EXAMPLE

The Bible in One Year:
John 6:1-21
Golden Verse
“Let no one think little of you because you are young, but always set an example for believers, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.”
( 1 Tim. 4:12)

Did you remember your first day in Kindergarten? Most of you were maybe afraid for awhile but afterward you enjoyed and were excited to see every action of your teachers. They were your examples for doing many things like singing, jumping, clapping hands or praying. They were models for you. Guys, since our early years, all of us need an example or pattern to follow.

Examples are very influential. If you follow something bad, your behaviour could be bad too or otherwise. Jesus described each of us in Matt. 5:13-16 as salt and light of the earth. This means that you have to demonstrate a good life as model to your school-mate, your peer, your family and people around you. We will succeed in doing so if we follow the example of Jesus Christ, our Saviour (I Ptr. 2:21-23).

Teens, perhaps you feel discourage and say, “How come?” or “I am too young and my daily life could not be a good model.” It’s okay, you are not the one and only. Timothy was also young like you and he felt so down in front of other people. But Paul encouraged him and also you, “Let no one think little of you because you are young, but always set an example for believers, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.” ( I Tim. 4:12).

Only when you draw near to Jesus and always asking help from Him, your life will glorify Him. Now please answer some questions below as your own decision:
1. Will I allow people to think slighting of me because I am a young man? Yes/No
2. For whom am I to be examples? _______________
3. In what ways am I to be examples? ______________; _____________; ____________; ___________; _______________.

Example has more followers than reason. We unconsciously imitate what pleases us, and insensibly approximate to the characters we most admire. In this way, a generous habit of thought and of action carries with it an incalculable influence.

Prayer:
“Dear Lord, please walk in front of me in this life as my wonderful model. As I follow your steps, help me to be a model of you for people around me in my speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. In the wonderful name of Jesus, I pray. Amen “
