If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”
(1 Corinthians 13:3)
1 Corinthians 13:1-3
I can give you a bunch of verses based on love from the Bible. It’s the most underlying theme of the whole book. The reason we exist, the reason we have a relationship with God. If God did not love us, He would not have sent His one and only Son to die for us. All the things that God does for us, repent us of our sins, give us the Holy Spirit to live within us and all the things that He does, is all based on the love He has for His people. And it’s the same thing with us.
The reason why we do things for each other, why we marry, why we have children and why we sacrifice for our children, because we love them!
Without love, nothing exists. No communities. No purpose. The verse above states that without love, we gain nothing. The most important commandment is to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. If there was more love in the world, there would be less wars and less destruction. There will be less murders and less people are left hungry or homeless. The basic rule for all is to learn to love others. Simple as that!
~ John 3:16
“Dear Lord, thank you for loving us so much. For sacrificing Your only Son, just so I can get to know You. I pray that You fill me with Your love so I may be able to share it with those around me. I pray that as I live out Your purpose in my life, people may see Your love within me. In Your Name I Pray, Amen.”
