The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it, you have founded them.
Last week we learned about the cause and effects of global warming. Today let’s take a look at the list below, some simple but practical things you can do to help in the global effort to save our planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
You can use this table as a guideline to help you remember to apply these simple actions in your everyday life. Put a check in the right column.
|1||Turn off electrical devices (lights, fans, tv, computers, etc.) when they are not in use|
|2||Unplug your phone charger when not in use|
|3||Donate your unwanted clothes|
|4||Use energy-saving light bulbs|
|5||Plant trees in your neighborhood|
|6||Turn off the faucet when you are brushing your teeth|
|7||Reduce paper use|
|8||Reuse your non-plastic shopping bag each time you buy things|
|9||Recycle newspapers, glass bottles, tin cans, and magazines|
|10||Check for leaks (toilets, faucets, pipes, etc.)|
|11||Use natural light, heat, and cooling|
|12||Ride your bike instead of taking a car|
|13||Use public transportation|
These are just a few things you can do. By having a conservation awareness mind, you will find other ways to contribute to the effort of saving our planet. (Adapted from voice.yahoo.com, prlog.org, environment.about.com, www1.eere.energy.gov)
